Vodafone to join the iPhone battle in January

Today, it has been announced that Vodafone will be selling the iPhone from January. Consumers, however, are disappointed at the proposed rate of £35 per month, which is more than 02, Orange and Tesco. The handset will be free, but really this large contract deal, lasting two years, is likely to put off some customers.
Vodafone claims that it will offer enhanced network reliability, justifying the higher cost. Vodafone's UK Chief Executive said that they had spent ayear optimizing the network for the iPhone.

Tesco undercuts 02 and Orange with new iPhone deals

Today it has been announced that Tesco will start selling the iPhone 3G and 3GS models in stores, after winning rights to the products last month.
They will be offering an annual contract of just £20 per month, although customers will have to fork out a hefty £222 for the most basic, 3G 8GB handset. This deal undercuts 02 and Orange, which offer a lowest rate of over £29 per month. 02 and Orange customers, however, will not have to pay for the handset.

Apple sues Nokia for 13 patent infringements

Today, Apple filed a countersuit alleging that Nokia has infringed no less than 13 of Apple's patents.
"Other companies must compete with us by inventing their own technologies, not just by stealing ours," Bruce Sewell, Cupertino, California-based Apple's general counsel, said in a statement.
